T-mobile
mobile phone tariffs
T-Mobile tends to specialise in the lower-cost sector of the market,
and the network’s coverage is less widespread than the competitors.
For many people, however, T-Mobile is perfectly adequate, and provides
a good-value service.
T-Mobile offer contract, PAYG and ‘mix it’ tariffs,
PAYG with no line rental or voucher expiry.
‘Mix it’ tariffs allow you to pay a fixed monthly contract,
but pay for any additional calls on a PAYG basis, at contract costs.
This means that you don’t receive any nasty surprises at the
end of the month.
Tariff details
Several other mobile companies use the t-mobile network. The best-known
is Virgin Mobile, but there are several others.
3 charges
This is the newest of the networks.
Because 3 is a UMTS network, the handsets are more complex, more
capable, and much more expensive than most other mobile phone handsets.
They are charging for voice calls, video calls and picture messages
on a slightly different basis from other networks, and seem to expect
that their customers will subscribe to additional information services.
Tariffs
For contract tariff details, click here. 3’s contract tariffs
are called Video, Talk & Text, Talk & Text, or Off-Peak
1000.
For Three’s PAYG tariff click here.
Old "3 to go" customers can find information here.
Old contract tariffs. You can find old contract tariffs on this
page.
SIM only
You can purchase a SIM only card for your existing 3 mobile. You
then can buy a top-up and start using your phone.
The SIM only card costs £9.99 from “3” stores,
Superdrug or Selfridges.
Vodafone tariffs

Vodafone are the market leaders in the UK, and are
particularly strong in the business sector. They tend to compete
on quality of service rather than on price, but that doesn't mean
that some of their tariffs are not competitive.
Stop the Clock
You can talk for up to an hour at weekends or in
the evening with “Stop the Clock”.
This is available to all customers, whether contract
or PAYG, but not available with PAYG Smartstep.
At weekends or after 7pm and before 8am for contract,
(7.30pm – 7.30am for PAYG), you can talk for up to an hour
and pay for only three minutes.
If you want to talk for a lot more than an hour
it is worth making a new call, because after the hour the charges
revert to the standard price plan charges.
Bill Payment
If you choose not to set up direct debit payments
for your monthly charge, there is an additional charge of £3.53
per month.
Extras packs
By adding an Extras pack, you can get text, picture
messages, internet, WAP and Vodafone live! browsing for half price
or less.
Online O2 tariffs
There are enough tariffs on enough networks to confuse anyone!.
What offers the best value for you depends on how
you will use your mobile phone.
This section has O2 (formerly Cellnet), T-Mobile
(formerly One2one), Orange, Vodafone, 3 and Virtual tariffs for
contract and PAYG phones.
O2 Contract tariffs
In addition to tariffs that include inclusive voice
calls, you can choose to add text message, media messages or GPRS
bundles to a contract.
Text or Media Message Bundles
These can be added on to any tariff. They cost £3
for 50 messages; £5 for 100 messages; £9 for 200 messages;
£16 for 400 messages or £30 for 1000 messages.
Every time you send a text message you use one ‘message’
from your bundle. Media messages use four ‘messages’
each time.
You must have a phone which is capable of media
messaging to use this option. If you don't you can still use the
bundle for text messages.
GPRS
GPRS can only be used if you have a GPRS enabled
phone. Although the phone is always connected, you only pay when
you are actually sending or receiving data. Once the data has arrived
you can view it for as long as you like.
